
Suarez Tabbed Big 12 Player of the Week

Averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game
FORT WORTH – Marta Suarez began the 2025-26 season as TCU's best kept secret but is now firmly on the radar of opposing teams and pundits alike.
Suarez was named Big 12 Player of the Week following a vote of local and national media members who actively cover the conference.
The 6-3 stretch forward posted a pair of double-doubles across No. 8 TCU's home victories over Tarleton State and UTRGV. Suarez averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4.5 assists for the week while shooting 52 percent from the field and 44 percent from deep.
The Spaniard led all players with 20 points and 10 rebounds in the Horned Frogs' 80-32 win over Tarleton State on Thursday. Suarez then paired a TCU career-high 24 points with 10 rebounds and five assists vs. UTRGV three days later. Suarez drained a career best 6-10 three-pointers and finished the game 9-16 from the floor.
Suarez is among the most lethal scorers in college basketball as of late. Sunday's performance signified her third straight 20-point game. She dropped 26 points in leading TCU to a 69-59 road win over then-No. 10 NC State on Nov. 16. Over her last three games, Suarez sis averaging 23 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor and 46 percent from deep.
She is one of six players in the country averaging at least 19 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 40 percent from deep. Suarez fourth in all of Division I in scoring average among players 6-3 or taller.
Suarez has now led TCU in scoring in four of its six wins. She has scored at least 19 points all but once.
She is the eighth player in program history to win the award. TCU has now produced the league's player of the week on 18 occasions across its 14 years of membership. The Horned Frogs have won the award 10 times over the last three seasons since head coach Mark Campbell assumed the helm.
Suarez and TCU (6-0) return to action at 8 p.m. CT on Thursday vs. Richmond (5-1) in the Cancun Challenge. TCU will twice play during its stay along Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. The Frogs face UAB at 5:30 p.m. CT on Friday. Both games take place at the Hard Rock Hotel Rivera Maya and will stream live on FloCollege.
