Frogs fire 18 career high marks in the match
FORT WORTH – Twelve TCU rifle shooters combined to set 18 career-highs as the Horned Frogs picked up a 4,728-4,686 win over Nebraska Saturday at the TCU Rifle Range. The Frogs fired a 2,340 in smallbore and a 2,388 mark in air rifle.
TCU produced seven of the top 10 aggregate scores in the match. Katie Zaun led all shooters with a 1,190. Mikole Hogan was second after shooting a 1,186. Rylie Passmore finished fourth, shooting a career-high 1,181. Christian Hillinger turned in a 1,176 to finish fifth. Kaylynn Slaughter (1,174), Micah Hames (1,172) and Ziva Swick (1,171) fired career-highs to round out the top 10.
Smallbore saw the Frogs shoot 11 of the top 14 scores. Zaun tied for the top spot in the match with a 592. Hogan contributed a 588, while Hillinger and Marissa Fedora shot a 580 to account for the team score.
Not factoring in the team score were Passmore, who finished fourth among shooters with a career-high 585, and Slaughter, who fired a career-best 583.
Eight Horned Frogs set career-highs in air rifle. Zaun led the way with a 598. Hogan matched her, setting a career-high with a 598. Hillinger and Passmore fired identical scores of 596, which were career-highs for both shooters. Also serving as a counter was Swick, who shot a 593 in her first collegiate outing in the air rifle discipline.
Also setting career-highs in air rifle were Annie Downum (592), Slaughter (591), Micah Hames (590) and Gianna Yokoe (580).
Nebraska shot a 2,313 in smallbore and a 2,373 in air rifle. The Cornhuskers were led by Emma Rhode, who finishedthird overall with an aggregate of 1,185. Rhode paced the squad in smallbore with a 592, while Maddy Moyer led the team with a 597 in air rifle.
TCU returns to action Sunday, Nov. 10 in Colorado Springs at the US Olympic Training Center where it will take on Alaska.
