Match to take place at the USOTC in Colorado Springs
FORT WORTH – No. 6 TCU rifle heads to the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for a Top 10 match-up against No. 1 Alaska-Fairbanks. The match is slated to begin at 9 a.m. (CT) on Sunday.
Eight Horned Frogs will be making the journey for the match – Annie Downum, Marissa Fedora, Micah Hames, Christina Hillinger, Mikole Hogan, Rylie Passmore, Ziva Swick and Katie Zaun.
The last time, TCU fired its best air rifle score of the season (2,388) and its second-highest aggregate score (4,728). On the season, the Frogs rank in the top six in both disciplines, averaging a 2,379.50 in air rifle and a 2,345.00 in smallbore. It's season aggregate average of 4,74.50 ranks fifth.
TCU boasts six shooters in the top 50 nationally in air rifle and five in the top 50 nationally in smallbore.
Katie Zaun continues to lead the way for the Frogs. She is tied for first nationally in air rifle with a 598.00 season average and fourth nationally in smallbore with a 590.75 season average. Her 1,188.75 aggregate average is tops in the nation. She is one of two shooters in the NCAA with a perfect air rifle score.
The traveling group combined to set 11 career-high marks in the match against Nebraska. Downum turned in her best performances in both disciplines as did Passmore. Hames and Swick posted career highs in air rifle and aggregate marks, while Hogan matched her career high with a 598 in air rifle.
Alaska, having shot just two matches this season, heads into the match with the top season averages in air rifle (2,390.00), smallbore (2,355.50) and aggregate (4,745.50). The Nanooks are led by Amanda Pettersen's 1,188.5 aggregate averages. She paces the squad in smallbore with a 591.50 season average. The duo of Lucie Kissenberger and Sara Karsova lead the team with 598 air rifle averages.
