Match concludes fall portion of the schedule
FORT WORTH – For the second straight week, the No. 3 TCU women's rifle team will match-up on the range against the No. 1 team in the country. The Horned Frogs head to Morgantown, W. Va. for a meeting with West Virginia.
Making the trek for the match will be Annie Downum, Marissa Fedora, Christina Hillinger, Mikole Hogan, Rylie Passmore, Ziva Swick and Katie Zaun.
The Frogs are coming off their strongest outing of the season, posting season highs in air rifle (2,391) and aggregate (4,743) while tying for their best smallbore score (2,352). The Frogs rank in the top five nationally in both disciplines season average. TCU is tied for third nationally with a season smallbore average of 2,346 and fifth nationally with an air rifle season average of 2,381.20.
Zaun continues to be one of the premiere shooters in the country, ranking second nationally in aggregate average at 1,188.40. She is tied for the top season air rifle average at 598.00. Her 590.40 smallbore average sits fourth nationally.
Hogan has been her steady self, ranking in the top 25 nationally in both disciplines and is tied for 16 nationally with an aggregate average of 1,183.00.
The quartet of freshmen, Fedora, Hillinger, Passmore and Swick, have continued to show growth every match. In the last match, Hillinger and Passmore both produced career highs in smallbore and air rifle. Fedora set a career-high in smallbore and aggregate, while Swick produced her career-best in air rifle and aggregate.
Downum also continues to heat up on the range, producing career-highs in both disciplines.
West Virginia enters the weekend sitting second nationally in air rifle average (2,384.50), first in smallbore average (2,355.00) and second in aggregate average (4,739,40). The Mountaineers are lead by Gavin Barnick. She paces the squad in smallbore average (589.80) and aggregate (1,186.2). Camryn Camp is the squad's top air rifle shooter with a 596.67 average.
The match is slated to get underway with sighting at 10:45 (CT).
