Zaun shoots a season-high aggregate score
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – No. 3 TCU came up short in at No. 1 West Virginia, dropping a 4,731-4,725 decision. The Horned Frog produced their fourth-highest aggregate score in the match and their third-highest smallbore (2,349) score. Katie Zaun led all shooters with a 1,192 aggregate score.
The Horned Frogs boasted three of the top five shooters in the match. Mikole Hogan finished fourth with an aggregate of 1,182. Ziva Swick fired a career-high aggregate of 1,180 to round out the top five. Marissa Fedora sat 10th individually after shooting an 1,175.
TCU took an early lead in the matching, edging out West Virginia 2,349-2,348 in smallbore. The Horned Frogs fired four of the top seven marks, while six of seven shooters finished in the top 11 in the match.
Zaun led all shooter in smallbore with a season-high mark of 594. Hogan matched her season-high, shooting a 591. Fedora contributed a 584, while Hillinger and Passmore fired identical marks of 580. Not factoring in the team score was Swick who fired a career-high 586 in the discipline.
West Virginia put together a solid performance in air rifle, topping the Frogs 2,383-2,376. Zaun tied for the second-highest mark, shooting a 598. Swick finished ninth among shooters with a 594. Hillinger contributed a 593 and Fedora a 591 to account for the team score.
The match marks the end of the fall season for the Horned Frogs. TCU returns to match action on Jan. 19 when it hosts Ohio State and UTEP.
