TCU hosts first home event in program history.
FORT WORTH – TCU is set to host its first-ever triathlon competition this weekend with the Battle in the Fort at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Marine Creek racecourse.
The Horned Frogs will host their first home event after waiting nearly a full calendar year since the program was created.
The Horned Frogs are coming off their first win in program history, a 55-25 win over Drury at the DeGray Lake Triathlon. In the team's first collegiate race, TCU walked away with a clean sweep and claimed the top six spots.
Maria Coral led the charge for the team, placing first overall (1:04:14.3) among all competitors. Sara Gimena (1:04:43.5) also had an impressive debut as her second-place swim time led her to a second-place overall finish.
Jenna Buchanan (1:04:46.2) placed third overall after impressive swimming and running performances. Amando Moro placed fourth overall (1:05:06.6) while Elena Viejo (1:05:34.0) and Ani Veltcheva (1:05:42.2) placed fifth and sixth, respectively.
