Frogs face Oklahoma State for conference title
FORT WORTH – Propelled by a 7-3 Jumping Seat win, the second-seeded TCU equestrian team beat three seed Fresno State, 13-7, in the Big 12 Championship semifinals. TCU will make its second appearance in the Big 12 Championship tomorrow at Diamond Creek Ranch (nut free facility) beginning at 1:30 against No. 1 Oklahoma State.
THE RUNDOWN
TCU (11-5) started the day strong with a 3-2 win in Fences. Isabella Baxter was the leading scorer for the Frogs with a 170 on Teddy. Sydney Berube followed close behing with a 165-151 win on Grande. Ashleigh Scully secured the win in the event for the Horned Frogs carding a 159 on Bentley.
Action then turned to Reining where the Frogs downed Fresno State, 3-2. Mattie Dukes spearheaded the Frogs with a 142.5 on Ruf. Giorgia Medows edged Fresno State's Addison Welman 140-132 on Jon Snow to claim the second point for TCU. Jessica McAllister carded the highest score in the event for the Frogs with a 144.5 on Henry.
After the half, TCU and Fresno State resumed action in Flat. Wynne Weatherly led the Frogs in scoring with a 170.5 on Capi. Sydnie Young collected a point with a 164-162 win on Puzzle. Jacey Albaugh dominated her opponent by 26.5 points with a 163-136.5 win on Gunner. Ashleigh Scully rounded out the event securing a point on Woody with a 159-142.5 win.
Horsemanship begun shortly after with the Frogs winning the event 3-2. Mattie Dukes goes 2-0 on the day with the high score in the event with a 153. Jessica McAllister follows suit carding a 150.5 on Snip. Shea Graham claims a win on the day taking down her Fresno State opponent 148-146 on Rio.
UP NEXT
Second-seeded TCU will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when it faces the one seed, Oklahoma State, in the Big 12 Championship final. Action is slated to begin at 1:30 in the afternoon at Diamond Creek Ranch (nut free facility) and will be streamed on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
Oklahoma State (11-2) will take on TCU after a tight matchup against Baylor in the Big 12 semifinal on Friday. The Cowgirls defeated the Bears, 10-9, claiming only the Western seat events. The meet came down to JoJo Roberson in Horsemanship who carded a 151.5-146.5 on Jake.
The Horned Frogs took down the Cowgirls in their last matchup on Feb. 26 at Diamond Creek Ranch, 16-4. While TCU is 8-6 when facing Oklahoma State at home, it still claims the overall matchup record 23-12.
