
TCU Sweeps Second Day of CCSA Championships

The Horned Frogs advance to the Semi-Finals
HUNTSVILLE, ALA. -- No. 7 TCU beach volleyball (26-7) battled past Tulane, 3-2, in the third round and took the 3-2 victory over No. 17 South Carolina in the fourth round to earn its place in the aqua bracket semifinals of the CCSA Championships in Huntsville, Ala for the first time in program history.
This is the 10th time this season that TCU has had a perfect 2-0 day of match play.
Only one Horned Frog pairing went unbeaten over the day, Megan Jacobsen and Trinity Cavanaugh. The duo received their first victory as a pair against Tulane and were the ones who secured the Frogs' spot in the semifinals tomorrow, with a win over South Carolina.
TCU still has a chance at the conference title. The Horned Frogs will need to defeat LSU tomorrow morning at 11:30 a.m. to advance to the Conference Championship where they would battle Florida State for the championship

Quick Hits vs. Tulane:
- Alvarez and Moreno scored the first point for the Horned Frogs in two action packed sets at the No. 1 position: 21-13, 21-17.
- The Spanish Phenoms clinched their 26th victory as a pair with their win over the Green Wave to tie teammates Blackburn and Brockett for the program record of most wins.
- Cavanaugh and Jacobsen scored the next point for TCU in two sets at the No. 4 position: 21-19, 21-14.
- This was their first victory together as a pair.
- Alvarez/Moreno and Cavanugh/Jacobsen were the only pairings to not have their matches go into three sets against Tulane.
- White and Miller solidified the victory for the Frogs in three hard-fought sets: 21-17, 16-21, 15-13.
- This was the duo's first win together since March when they last beat Louisiana-Monroe.
- The 5's improve their record to 5-4 this season.
- TCU is now 4-0 against the Green Wave this season.
Quick Hits vs. No. 17 South Carolina:
- Scott and Gonzalez put the Frogs out in front with their two set victory at the No. 3 position: 21-12, 25-23.
- They improve 23-6 on the season.
- They won the second set in extra points, 25-23. They are now 8-1 when the set goes into extra points.
- Blackburn and Brockett gave TCU the edge over the Gamecocks when they scored the second point in two dominating sets: 21-14, 21-15.
- The No. 2 pairing extends the program record to 27 wins with their victory over South Carolina.
- The duo achieved their 11th ranked win as partners, only one off the program record set by Brockett and old teammate, Avery Arellano, two seasons ago.
- Brockett extends the program record of most ranked wins to 23.
- Cavanaugh and Jacobsen solidified the Horned Frog victory when they won in three sets: 22-20, 19-21, 15-10.
- The duo improves their record to 2-2 on the season.
- TCU is 3-0 against the Gamecocks this season.
