Marsh ties career-high aggregate score
FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Season highs in both disciplines helped lead No. 4 TCU to a 4,722-4,703 victory at No. 5 Alaska Friday. Elizabeth Marsh put together a career day on the line, firing season-highs in both smallbore and air rifle while tying her career-high aggregate score.
All five counters fired a 592 or better in air rifle for a team score of 2,379. Combined with the Horned Frogs tally of 2,343 in smallbore, TCU posted the program's 10th-best aggregate score (4,722).
For the third straight match, Stephanie Grundsoee paced all shooters in aggregate score (1,185). Marsh finished right behind, shooting a combined 1,184. Rounding out the match's top 3 was Kristen Hemphill (1,180). Both Abigail Gordon (1,173) and Grace Taschuk (1,171) set season-highs in aggregate score.
In smallbore, TCU boasted five of the top 9 scores. Grundsoee and Hemphill shot identical scores of 588. Marsh fired a season-high 587 to finish fourth. Gordon sat eighth with a 580, followed by Taschuk with a season-high 579.
Air rifle saw the Frogs produce five of the top six scores in the match. Grundsoee and Marsh topped the leaderboard, firing 597s. Gordon finished fourth after shooting a 593, followed by Hemphill and Taschuk with 592s. Taschuk's tally tied a career-high, while Marsh's mark was a season-best.
The Nanooks fired a season-high aggregate score (2,341 air rifle; 2,362 smallbore). They were paced by Daniel Enger, who finished fourth in the match with an aggregate score of 1,178. He led all shooters in smallbore with a 589 in addition to firing a 589 in air rifle.
The Horned Frogs improve to 3-0 on the season. They will stay in Alaska for one final match against the Nanooks. Match time on Sunday is slated for 11 a.m.
