TCU goes undefeated in the Horned Frogs Challenge
FORT WORTH – The 15th ranked TCU beach volleyball team defeated both Abilene Christian and Nebraska in day two of the Horned Frogs Challenge to finish the first home tournament undefeated. TCU is now 6-2 on the season, including a six match win streak. TCU finished the weekend with a 18-2 record in all matches.
TCU began the day by sweeping ACU, 5-0. Lauren Turner and Bella Swafford, both in their first match of the season, started the scoring for the Frogs, putting TCU up 1-0. The second point came from Kathryn Kramer, in her first showing for the Frogs, alongside partner Jordan Westendorff, who has yet to drop a match this season. Jensyn Bledsoe and Trinity Cavanaugh had a dominant showing on court two, winning both sets and earning the point for TCU in 21-8, 21-10 wins.
With TCU up 3-0, Haven Hill and Avery Arellano sealed their second match quickly, only allowing ACU nine points, putting the Horned Frogs up 4-0. Olivia Beyer and Taylor Bradley secured the 5-0 sweep for TCU in a battle on the first court. The pair went 4-0 this weekend.
TCU defeated Nebraska 4-1 in the afternoon, earning the perfect 4-0 record on the weekend. Jordan Westendorff and Rochelle Scott earned a decisive win on court five, only allowing a combined 15 points across two sets, the lowest point total allowed by any pairing this season.
With TCU up 1-0, Avery Arellano and Hailey Brocket shut down Nebraska in the second set, allowing only eight points, putting TCU 2-0. Olivia Beyer and Taylor Bradley had another solid match, winning in two sets to give TCU the go-ahead third point. Haven Hill and Victoria McDonald battled it out on the second court, winning 26-24 in the first set. The pair locked down in set two, winning 21-9. Jensyn Bledsoe and Trinity Cavanaugh dropped their first set, 21-17, but fought back, winning the second set 21-15, sending their match into a third set. The pair ultimately dropped the match, but TCU secured the 4-1 victory and the perfect 4-0 record on the weekend.
Up Next
TCU hosts the Fight in the Fort next Friday and Saturday, March 6-7. The field includes No. 2 LSU, No. 13 Arizona, UAB and Missouri State. TCU open the weekend against LSU on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
