Fast Start, Defense Lead TCU to Win at Baylor

Horned Frogs defeat the Bears for the fifth time in the last six seasons
TCU has now defeated Baylor in five of the last six meetings, including three straight in Waco.
The Horned Frogs recorded five sacks, their most since totaling five in the 2018 Cheez-It Bowl victory over Cal. TCU also limited Baylor to 278 yards of offense, including just 80 in the first half.
The Horned Frogs led 20-0 with less than 11 minutes into the contest, en route to an eventual 30-0 margin.
On its second possession of the game, TCU drove 73 yards in just five plays to take a 7-0 lead. A 37-yard pass from Max Duggan to Quentin Johnston put the Horned Frogs at the Baylor 3. On the next snap, Darwin Barlow scored on a 3-yard run for his third rushing touchdown of the season, tying Duggan for the team lead. Barlow finished with a career-high 117 yards rushing as the Horned Frogs totaled 247 yards on the ground.
After forcing Baylor into a 3-and-out on its next series, the Horned Frogs extended their lead to 14-0 on a 67-yard punt return by Derius Davis. It was the second career punt return for a score by Davis, who had a 73-yard touchdown in his collegiate debut as a true freshman against Southern in 2018.
La'Kenrick Van Zandt's interception on Baylor's next series set up another TCU score, as Taye Barber's 13-yard reception made it a 20-0 game in the first quarter.
Zach Evans' first career rushing touchdown, a 30-yard burst up the middle, made it a 27-0 game. Evans totaled a career-best 81 yards on seven attempts. Griffin Kell's 33-yard field goal gave TCU a 30-0 lead.
The Horned Frogs led 30-7 at the half and built their margin to 33-7 early in the third quarter on a Kell 34-yard field goal. The key play on the 6-play, 80-yard drive was a career-long 74-yard carry by Barlow. It was also TCU's longest play from scrimmage this season.
Baylor attempted to rally late, but the Horned Frogs held on for the win.
