Books, playing as an individual, recorded a par on the first playoff hole to win the El Macero Classic for his first career victory with the Horned Frogs on Sunday. The senior from Seattle, Wash. was tied at even par with Oregon State's Kevin Murphy at the end of regulation before Books won it on the par-4 sixth hole.
Books entered the day tied for first and carded four bogeys and two birdies to stay at even par. He recorded his final birdie on the par-4 395-yard 17th to move into a tie for first. He shot 1-over par for the round. For the tournament, Books shot 72-70-74 (216).
Up next for men's golf is the Big 12 Conference Championships on April 29-May 1 at Whispering Pines in Trinity, Texas.
McMullen had an amazing run at nationals in helping lead the TCU equestrian program to a NCEA National Championship Runner-Up performance. The Tennessee native was the championships' Most Outstanding Player in Horsemanship after going 4-0 in competition.
She closed out the year with a 14-4 overall record and was named a First-Team NCEA All-American in the discipline, while also earning all-league accolades.
