Horned Frogs Post 4-1 Win Over UNCW

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU beach volleyball team wrapped up competition at the 7th annual Fiesta on Siesta by scoring a 4-1 win over UNC-Wilmington on Sunday afternoon in Siesta Key, Fla.
Three of the wins on Sunday for the Horned Frogs (14-5) came in straight sets over the Seahawks (8-13), while the No. 4 pair of Jordan Terral and Blaire Pickens picked up their fifth win this season in three sets.
The No. 5 pair of Ariah Palter and Molly Scheel got things started with a 21-11, 21-15 win for the pair's 15th win this season. Terral and Pickens followed with their three-set win on court four to put TCU up 2-0 before the No. 3 duo of Jillian Bergeson and Jaelyn Greene clinched the overall match victory with a 21-15, 21-15 victory. Bergeson and Greene have also now posted 15 wins this season.
With the match already clinched, the No. 1 pair of Sarita Mikals and Michelle McNamee rounded out the winners for the day by topping Nicole Lott and Kristen Powell on the top court with a 21-11, 21-18 victory. With the win on Sunday, the duo moved to 13-6 this season.

"It was great to be able to travel to the Fiesta on Siesta and compete in our sports natural environment. I think we really got to see some true beach conditions and had to adjust our play in the morning and afternoon to adapt to the winds. We really struggled in yesterday afternoon's winds against a very experienced Florida International team. I think we really learned from that and were able to adapt much faster to the conditions we saw today at our afternoon match."

TCU will return to Fort Worth for its second home tournament of the 2016 season, the Cowtown Classic, from April 15-16. The Frogs will host Louisiana-Monroe (2 p.m.) and New Mexico (4 p.m.) on Friday before taking on USC on Saturday at 2 p.m.
