Alaska took the top honors with a 4,676-point showing. Air Force and TCU each held 4,660-point totals, and UTEP (4,544) rounded out the scoring.
Mindy Miles continued her torrid freshman year by shooting a 596 in air rifle to pace all shooters. Miles has posted a 595 or better in consecutive outings and three times in her career, and has raised her score in each of the last three matches. Hannah Black (591) surpassed the 590-point plateau for the eighth time in 11 matches. Kelly Bogart and Sally Li also shot 584s.
TCU's 2,305 smallbore score was second among the four teams. Ariana Grabowski, whose 579-point average is one behind Black and Li for the smallbore team lead, fired a 585 to set the standard for the Horned Frogs. She also improved her score for the fourth-straight time following her personal-best 587 on Nov. 16. Black shot a 582.
The match was the Horned Frogs' first in Colorado Springs since Feb. 4, 2012, when a 4,695-4,618 victory gave TCU its 28th consecutive win in a row.
All four of Alaska's smallbore shooters shot 580s or better, highlighted by Ryan Anderson's field-leading 586.
In addition to the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships Feb. 7-8, the Horned Frogs will also travel back to the Rockies for the NCAA Qualifier with the host Falcons on Feb. 21.
