The official announcement from the NCAA regarding which eight teams will take part in the national championships will be on Thursday. TCU is aiming for its ninth consecutive appearance.
The qualifier is one of the four scores used by the NCAA to determine the eight teams that will compete for the National Championship. The other three scores come from regular season action. All three regular season match scores must come from different match locations.
Black's air rifle excellence marks the fifth straight match TCU has had a shooter hit 596 or better. Her aggregate score was one point off the season-high for TCU, set by Sally Li the previous Saturday against UTEP. Li provided a 595-point performance as part of TCU's 1-2 punch as well.
Black, whose 584-point effort in smallbore gave her a sweep of the field, and Li both have shot a 590 or better in 10 of 14 matches on the year. Mindy Miles fired a 589 in air rifle, her sixth consecutive outing shooting that or better.
Katie Bridges tied her personal-bests of 589 and 580 points in air rifle and smallbore, respectively, while the 1,169-point aggregate performance established a new career-high.
Barrett Ray had a perfect prone performance in smallbore. Her and Air Force's David Higgins were the only two out of the 18 shooters to record 200s in that position.
All eight shooters for TCU in the air rifle discipline shot at least a 580.
Meredith Carpentier and Kevyn Stinett each fired a 592 in air rifle for the Falcons, but TCU held four of the top six spots in that discipline at the end of the day. Higgins led the squad in smallbore (584).
