Rifle Looks To Remain Undefeated

FORT WORTH – The TCU rifle team is set for a top-10 matchup Sunday at the TCU Rifle Range when the fifth-ranked Horned Frogs host No. 8 Nebraska. TCU enters the match with a 4-0 record.
Strong performances up and down the lineup have contributed to a fast start from the Horned Frogs. As a team, the Frogs are averaging a score of 2369 in air rifle and a 2321 in smallbore.
Mindy Miles paces the team with a 596 average in air rifle. She hasn't shot below a 594 all season. Newcomer Nicole Hankey has impressed with a season average of 590, highlighted by a career-high 596 in her first collegiate match. Rounding out the top three is Hannah Black with an average of 589.
Another freshman, Rachel Garner has splashed onto the scene, averaging a 583 to lead the Frogs in smallbore. Right behind her is Black with a season average of 581 and Li with her 579 average.
Nebraska embarked on a two-match trip on Friday as it will face off against Memphis on Saturday before heading to Fort Worth for Sunday's match. The Cornhuskers have seen action on the range in just two matches this season, dropping both to Air Force and West Virginia.
Rachel Martin, Jaycee Carter and Hannah Virga have started strong in air rifle, shooting over 590 in the first match, while Denise Martin was the top shooter in smallbore. Nebraska saw a similar effort in the loss to West Virginia.
