Frogs in First at Connecticut Cup

ELLINGTON, CONNECTICUT -- TCU leads the field with junior Chelso Barrett in first and senior Paul Barjon in second on the leaderboard after the opening two rounds of play at the Connecticut Cup at Ellington Ridge Country Club.
TCU holds a sizable lead after two rounds of play, posting a 285 and 279 in two rounds on Monday to finish 12-under par as a team to lead the pack. Dartmouth is currently in second at three-over par while host UConn is third at five-over par.
Barrett shot an opening round 66 followed by a 69 to go 9-under par after 36 holes. The first round score tied Barrett's career low, match in 2013-14 at the Amer Ari Invitational when he shot 66-68-72 to finish in a tie for ninth in the event. Barrett is seeking his first career tournament win at TCU, having finished as high as fifth previously with six career top 10 finishes entering this season.
Barjon shot 71 and 66 on opening day to finish at 7-over par. Barjon's 66 was just shy of his career best 65 in last year's The Goowin in Stanford, Calif.
Senior Ryan Books is also in the top 10 following opening day, shooting 75 and 69 to finish at even par.
The Frogs will look to maintain their spot atop the leaderboard on Tuesday as the event concludes. Connecticut won last year's event, their second consecutive title at the tournament that they host annually. TCU is looking for its first tournament win since last year's Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. It would be TCU's fourth tournament title since the start of the 2012-13 season.
The tournament is the final event of the fall for the TCU Men's Golf program.
