TCU Notches Doubles Wins at FGCU

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's tennis team opened the FGCU Spring Invite by posting six doubles victories, with two of the doubles duos going 2-0 to open competition on Wednesday in Naples, Fla.
TCU went undefeated in Flight Two, as the No. 47-ranked pair of Trevor Johnson and Blake Wiggins posted two wins, along with the doubles duo of Hudson Blake and Trey Daniel. The senior duo and No. 20 ranked pairing of Nick Chappell and Will Stein, along with the duo of Facundo Lugones and Guillermo Nuñez went 1-1 in Flight One.
In the opening four doubles matches, the Horned Frogs went 2-2 with Johnson and Wiggins able to pull off a 7-6 victory over Andrew Korinek and Tam Trinh of LSU, while Blake and Daniel easily handled Zach Yablon and Jamie Malik of Rice, 6-2.
In the second four matches, TCU was able to go undefeated with Chappell and Stein pulling off a thrilling 7-6 win over Max Andrews and David Warren of Rice, while Lugones and Nuñez took out Chris Simpson and John Michael Busch of LSU, 6-4.
The Frog continued their winning ways in Flight Two, with Johnson and Wiggins taking a 6-2 win over Yablon and Malik of Rice, while Blake and Daniel posted a 6-4 victory over Simon Freund and Eric Perez of LSU.
TCU will continue action at the FGCU Spring Invite on Thursday with singles matches against Rice starting at 8 a.m., CT, before returning to the court at 2 p.m., CT to take on the Owls and Ole Miss in doubles.
