FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU has announced that football's Jason Verrett and soccer's Makenzie Koch are the Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 16.
Verrett, a senior cornerback, held Texas Tech's then-leading receiver Eric Ward without a catch Thursday night in Lubbock. Ward had 16 catches for 186 yards in the first two games of the season. Verrett also broke up a pass and had a tackle-for-loss. The Horned Frogs have an open week before hosting SMU on Sept. 28.
Koch, a sophomore midfielder, took part in both of TCU's goals in an overtime win over No. 25 Arkansas. She scored her team-leading fourth goal in the 80th minute before notching an assist in the second overtime on Patry Carrion's first career goal to give the Horned Frogs a huge win. TCU hosts Denver on Friday night and Central Arkansas on Sept. 22.
