
TCU Falls to South Dakota State Thursday

WACO, Texas - The TCU Hunt Seat squad battled South Dakota State to a 4-4 draw inside Extraco Coliseum Thursday afternoon, but ultimately fell to the Jackrabbits by an overall raw score of 1,107-1,015 on the opening day of the 2013 NCEA National Championship.With the loss, the No. 5 seeded Horned Frogs, who came into nationals boasting their highest pre-tournament seeding on the Hunt Seat side in program history, ended the year 9-6 overall. No. 12 seeded South Dakota State, who was making its first-ever appearance at nationals, improved to 6-8 overall.
In Equitation on the Flat, Demi Stiegler continued her winning ways Thursday, downing Marielle Golden, 147-125. The First-Team All-America honoree and Big 12 Rider of the Year closed out her sophomore campaign with a 12-1-2 overall record. Kaitlin Perry scored the other point for the Purple and White, downing Megan Schiffman, 143-115. Perry improved to 10-4-1 on the season with the victory in Equitation on the Flat.
Perry was just as dominate in Equitation over Fences Thursday, upending Golden, 154-146. Finally, Taylor Alexander rounded out the TCU scoring, defeating Jordan Goodall, 137-128. With the win, Alexander recorded her eighth victory of the season.
On the Western side, the No. 4 seeded Frogs will have to wait until Friday to begin action in Waco. The Purple and White will face No. 5 South Carolina at 9:00 a.m. with the first round of Reining. The Gamecocks defeated New Mexico State Thursday, 5-2.
