BRYAN, Texas - No. 8 TCU upended No. 4 Texas A&M in Reining Friday afternoon, but dropped a hard-fought 5-4 decision to the Aggies at the Brazos County Expo Complex.The Horned Frogs, who moved to 2-1 on the young season, saw their two-game winning streak snapped in Bryan, while Texas A&M improved to 2-2 on the year. The Frogs simply crushed the Aggies in Reining, scoring 345.5 points, while downing Texas A&M, 3-1.
Senior Kolby Simonson got the Purple and White started off on the right foot in Reining, defeating Emma Myers, 69-67.5. Katelyn Gray and Chantz Stewart were also victories, upending Becca Murray and Laura Sumrall, respectively, to move to 2-0 on the young season. Sophomore Samantha Bayer appeared to have scored a point for the Frogs, but ended up battling Logan Pluhar to a 70-70 draw.
Bayer led the way for TCU in Horsemanship Friday afternoon, downing Cassie Mantor, 74-72.5. Reining All-America honoree Alexie Estrada came up just short against Laura Brainard, falling 74.5-72. Sophomore Calli Rouse also just missed scoring a point, dropping a 75.5-73.5 showing to Carey Nowacek.
The Frogs will continue their three-game road swing when they travel to Kansas State on Nov. 2.
