In the men's 100 meters, Silmon captured the event-title with a personal best time of 10.24 seconds, which set a new MWC Championship record and is currently No. 8 in the West Region and No. 19 in the NCAA. Silmon, a freshman from Waco, just missed his second conference title on the day, earning runner-up accolades with a personal-best time of 20.65 seconds in the 200 meters. In the 200 meters his times rank No. 8 in the West Region and No. 23 in the NCAA.
Tanui shined on Friday, capturing the women's 10,000 meters title with a new complex record time of 36:14.81. Tanui continued her dominance on the track in the 5,000-meter run, winning her second title of the Mountain West Conference Championships, with a time of 17:21.06.
