
Rifle Continues Hot Streak, Tops Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. - The TCU Horned Frog rifle team posted its sixth-straight victory with a 4,637-4,619 win over Nebraska Saturday afternoon. Simone Riford took home top honors in the match, posting an aggregate score of 1,164 (578 smallbore, 586 air rifle).
The Frogs needed their big victory in smallbore (2,302-2,282) to take home the victory as they lost by two points in the air rifle competition 2,337-2,335.
Erin Lorenzen finished second in the match with an aggregate of 1162 (575 smallbore and 587 air rifle).
In smallbore, the Frogs shot three of the top four scores in the meet. Riford led the field with a 578. Emily Paper and Lorenzen tied with a 575, while Caitlin Morrissey rounded out the Frogs counters with a tally of 574.
Lorenzen was the Frogs' top shooter in air rifle with a mark of 587. Riford followed closely with a 586. Morrissey fired a 584 and Mattie Brogdan a 578 to round out the field.
The Frogs are 6-1 in head-to-head meets this season and have taken home top honors in two other tournaments. TCU returns home next weekend to square off against UTEP on January 30.
