
Horned Frogs Drop Heartbreaker To Baylor

WACO, Texas - TCU collected two MVP honors on Saturday afternoon, but dropped an 8-7 decision to host school Baylor at the Willis Invitational."I thought the game was really close and could've gone either way with a few breaks," said head coach Gary Reynolds. "Our Reining was super solid today and I am very proud of all of the girls this weekend. Overall, we had a very good weekend and some very good performances. We are really moving forward as a program. We are light years ahead of where we were last year at this point."
The Horned Frogs, who outscored the Bears, 1169.5-1118, swept the Reining competition inside the Willis Family Equestrian Center on Saturday. Overall, TCU totaled a 5-2 advantage in Western events against Baylor.
Ashton Mickunas, a senior from Fort Worth, claimed MVP honors in Reining, downing the Bears' Madelyn Mooney, 72-71.5. Fellow senior Chloe Baker also scored a point for the Frogs, defeating Katie Buss, 70.5-69.5. Finally, Carrie von Uhlit and Kelsey Huffman tallied the final two points for TCU, upending Baylor, 68.5-0 and 70.5-68.5, respectively.
In Horsemanship, Huffman scored the Frogs lone point in the event, defeating Lindsey Tomko, 75-72. The junior from Norco, Calif., collected MVP accolades on Saturday.
Sophomore Taylor Frederick led TCU in Equitation over Fences, dropping Lisa Goldman, 74-70. Tassie Munroe, a Valley Mills native, just missed collecting a point for the Purple and White as Baylor's Heather Healy narrowly beat Munroe, 75-73.
In Equitation, Munroe was victorious, beating Margaret Beaudoin, 84-78, while junior Milana Trimino just missed a victory, falling to Faith Morris, 74-73.
With the narrow loss, the Horned Frogs moved to 1-1 on the year, while Baylor improved to 2-0. TCU will next be in action on Sept. 18 at Auburn.
