WACO, Texas - The TCU equestrian team wrapped up play today at the Willis Invitational Tournament at Baylor. The Horned Frogs went 1-1 on the day as they beat New Mexico State, 6-5. The Frogs fell to host team Baylor in the third and final round.
Against the Aggies, freshman Taylor Frederick scored an 81 to nab MVP honors in equitation over fences.
The Horned Frogs again showed their strength in the western division as they won both events versus New Mexico State.
Senior captain Carrie von Uhlit earned a point and the MVP title for reining. Overall, she recorded the highest score in the event with a 71.5.
TCU fell to Baylor in the final match of the tournament as sophomore Tassie Munroe won her point with an impressive score of 86. Munroe received her second MVP honor of the season with the victory.
In reining, sophomore Jennifer Neel grabbed another win on the season as she defeated Baylor's Amber Mooney, 70-60.5.
"Baylor's western team ended our 19 game win streak and it had become some what of a target for us that every team was shooting for. I have to commend Coach Armstrong as she put together an extremely difficult and tricky group of horses for us and they just rode their horses better than we did. We will learn from this and continue on the meeting our bigger goals down the road," said head coach Gary Reynolds.
TCU will be back in action Oct. 24 when they host South Carolina. Competition will take place in Mansfield, Texas at the Fieldstone Park Equestrian Facility.
