COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The TCU equestrian squad (3-3) was defeated by Texas A&M, 12-8, in College Station.
The loss was the third meeting between the two schools as Texas A&M now leads the series, 3-0.
Lauren Quiroz led TCU in equitation over fences after upending Lindsay Smith, 80-75. Carrie von Uhlit and Taylor Frederick also won their points in fences as Frederick took home her third victory of the season.
Sophomore Jessica Hagen was the lone Frog to earn a point in equitation on the flat as she topped Texas A&M's Amber Goodwin, 78-75.
The western competition was tight as the Frogs lost to the Aggies, 5-4. Veteran seniors Chloe Baker and Von Uhlit earned victories after each scoring an 83 in horsemanship. Baker improved her record to 4-1 on the season. In the reining, Von Uhlit tied the Aggies' Amanda Ryan and earned the only TCU MVP honors.
TCU was led by sophomore Kelsey Huffman who won both events she competed in. In horsemanship, Huffman scored a 73 to top Texas A&M's Sibyl Parsons. Huffman was the only TCU rider to win her point in reining after defeating her opponent, 69-68.
"It was a great match and our fencing and horsemanship teams did great," head coach Gary Reynolds said. "We made some mistakes in reining but we are going to work at fixing those in practice this coming week."
TCU resumes action in Mansfield Nov. 22 as they face No. 2 Georgia. The Frogs beat the Bulldogs in last year's western national championship. The game will start at 10 a.m.
