OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - TCU senior Carrie von Uhlit won the 2008 AQHA World Championship in amateur reining on Wednesday night.
The California native scored a 215.5 in the finals to upend Sally Broten by a point and a half in Oklahoma City.
Von Uhlit rode five year-old horse, Ricky Bobby, who proved to be a valuable entity in the TCU team captain's success.
"I plan on competing with him at the National Reining Horse Association Derby. I would also like to learn to do working horse with him too," Von Uhlit said. "I bought Ricky Bobby only a year ago and did not expect him to come this far so fast."
No. 6 TCU plays No. 2 Texas A&M on Saturday. Get the complete results at GoFrogs.com.
