FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Athletics Department selected football's Andy Dalton and tennis' Nina Munch-Soegaard its Student-Athletes of the Week for their efforts this past week for the Horned Frogs.
Dalton completed 16-of-22 passes for 334 yards and a career-high four touchdowns in a 54-7 win over Wyoming. His touchdown passes consisted of 60, 55 and 39 yards to Jimmy Young and a 1-yard scoring toss to Justin Watts. He also added a 1-yard touchdown run.
The Katy, Texas, native's 334 yards passing represented the second-best game of his career (344 yards in a win last year at Stanford). His four touchdown passes were one short of TCU's single-game record of five, and his five total touchdowns were also one shy of a Horned Frog single-game mark.
Munch-Soegaard, ranked 47th by the ITA in singles play, claimed the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regional singles title by defeating 34th ranked Taylor Ormond from Baylor, 6-0, 6-3. She went 6-0 during the tournament, defeating the 15th-, 24th- and 34th-ranked players in the nation to earn the singles crown.
The Amarillo, Texas, native solidified a spot at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships held Nov. 6-9 at the University of Virginia's Boyd Tinsley Tennis Center at Boar's Head Sports Club. It will be her first appearance in the event and TCU's fifth straight showing.
