
TCU Rifle Drops Close Match To The Mountaineers

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.- The TCU woman's rifle team dropped its first match of the season against the West Virginia Mountaineers today in Morgantown. The final aggregate score was 4666-4626. The loss ends the Frog's regular season winning streak at eight consecutive matches. Emily Paper was the high scoring shooter for the Frogs with an aggregate score of 1167 followed by Simone Riford with a 1162.
In smallbore, the Frogs kept things close with Emily Paper's score of 582. Paper's score was only three points off of the leader's mark of 585. Simone Riford and Mattie Brogdon turned in two scores of 576. Nine shooters from TCU scored in the top ten overall, giving TCU an aggregate score of 2297.
Simone Riford led the team in air rifle by firing a score of 586. Her score was good enough to place fifth. Tanya Gorin and Emily Paper followed with two scores of 585. Rounding out the top ten was Erin Lorenzen and Lauren Sullivan with a 582 and 581, respectively. Freshman Mattie Brogdon tallied a 580 against the Mountaineers.
The team will turn its focus to another road match against the Nevada Wolfpack on Nov. 8th. The match against Nevada will be the 3rd of four straight road matches for the Frogs.
