
TCU Equestrian announces 2007-08 schedule

FORT WORTH, Texas-The TCU Equestrian team announced its schedule dates Thursday for the upcoming 2007-08 season, with match times to be announced at a later date.The Frogs will begin their second season on the road for three consecutive days, as they make an SEC swing September 21-23. TCU will take on Auburn on the 21st, as it looks to go 2-0 in its series against the Tigers. Last season, TCU defeated then defending national champion Auburn 9-7 in Mansfield, for its first ever win in program history.
The next day, September 22, TCU renews its rivalry with South Carolina. Last season the Frogs lost to South Carolina twice, including the first round of the Western National Championship. The match included returning team members Carrie von Uhlit and Kindel Huffman posting high scores out of all 32 first round riders in the reining and horsemanship events.
TCU finishes its opening road trip against Georgia, a team its has yet to play in its brief history. Senior Jessica Bailey will certainly look forward to the matchup, as she was a member of Georgia's team, from 2004-2005.
Other schedule highlights include the home opener against Stephen F. Austin October 6th. Last season the Lady Frogs were edged by Stephen F. Austin 7-5. The Frogs travel to Baylor October 27th to compete in a fall tournament on the 27th and 28th. They will finish their fall schedule November 2nd at home against Texas A&M.
After a three month break from competition, the Frogs return to action at home against Fresno State February 2nd. The last time the Lady Bulldogs visited Mansfield, the match went to a tie breaker which TCU lost due to a total raw score deficit of 1161-1059.5
Two weeks after Fresno State comes to Mansfield, the Frogs go to Fresno to compete in the Best of the West tournament February 16-17. TCU finishes the regular season with a home game against Baylor March 8.
The National Championship will be held in Waco April 17-19, giving the Frogs almost six weeks to rest up for a championship run, they hope will last longer than their first round exit a year ago.
TCU returns all five members of its national championship team from a year ago, and are finalizing their first recruiting class in history, which will be eligible for competition beginning at the start of the year.
