FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU equestrian coach Gary Reynolds announced the signing of Nicole Barnes to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday.
A native of Northbrook, Ill., Barnes recently was named the 2006 Sooner Trailer All-Around Amateur at the 2006 AQHA World Championship Show, where she won the Western Horsemanship World Championship.
"Nicole is an outstanding rider and quality individual," Reynolds said. "We are excited about adding her to our program and I believe she will make an outstanding addition to TCU."
Competing in her first year as an amateur, Barnes made the finals in four of five events on her horse, Zippos Ace of Spades and earned the title of All-Around Amateur.
In addition to her championship, Barnes also placed third in showmanship at halter, western riding and trail.
Barnes is currently a sophomore at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, Ill., and will join the TCU equestrian program in the fall of 2007 with two years of eligibility remaining.
