FORT WORTH, Texas - After completing scrimmages at Baylor and Stephen F. Austin this past weekend, the TCU equestrian team will compete in the program's first regular season show on Saturday at Oklahoma State.
The event will be held at the Animal Science Arena and will begin at 9 a.m. Both teams will compete in each of the two events that comprise English and Western. The two English classes are equitation on the flat and equitation over fences. The two Western classes are reining and horsemanship.
"Oklahoma State is one of the strongest programs in the nation," head coach Gary Reynolds said. "We are extremely excited about being able to go there and compete against them on their home turf."
TCU will be led by Carrie von Uhlit, who earned MVP honors in equitation on the flat and reigning at Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 1. In equitation on the flat, von Uhlit scored an 82, and in reigning she posted a 70.5.
Against the Ladyjacks, TCU fell 7-5 (842-804 raw score). Although the Horned Frogs fell, they swept all four points awarded in equitation on the flat.
In the first scrimmage against Baylor on Sept. 29, TCU only had six riders compete, so the teams were divided into Team A and Team B with both TCU and Baylor riders comprising each team. At the competition, Von Uhlit was also named MVP of reigning with a score of 75 at Baylor.
