
Blake named to CFN All-America squad

CHICAGO -- TCU defensive end Tommy Blake has been named a second-team Sophomore All-American by CollegeFootballNews.com.A native of Aransas Pass, Texas, Blake was tabbed by CFN earlier this month as the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Blake was a first-team All-MWC selection after topping the league with 12.5 tackles for a loss. His 6.0 sacks are second on the team and third in the MWC. Blake leads all TCU defensive linemen with 55 tackles. He has at least one tackle for a loss in seven straight games and in eight contests overall.
Blake recorded two sacks in a win at Wyoming and a season-best eight tackles in victories over New Mexico and Air Force. He had 3.5 tackles for a loss as part of seven stops in the regular-season finale against UNLV.
The Mountain West Conference champion and 14th-ranked TCU football team, after taking four days off for final exams, resumes practice Friday at 4 p.m. in preparation for the Dec. 31 EV1.net Houston Bowl versus Iowa State.
