SHREVEPORT, La. - Paced by a season-best smallbore score of 4,231, TCU rifle's purple team geared up for the NCAA Sectional meet by capturing first place Saturday at Centenary College. TCU's white squad placed second with a 3,911 to complete the Horned Frog sweep.
As it has been for much of the season, TCU was led by junior Jessica Green (Lufkin, Texas/Homeschool/Angelina College), who posted a tournament-best 1,084. Seniors Stacy Phillips (Georgetown, Texas/Georgetown) and Jennifer Heim (Altoona, Iowa/Grand Island) weren't far behind, notching scores of 1,079 and 1,067, respectively, to seal the win for the Frogs.
For the white squad, junior Andy Pratt (Heidelburg, Germany/American) led the way with a 1,033, good for fourth in the meet. Overall, TCU shooters notched seven of the meet's top ten marks.
The Horned Frogs will now look towards the NCAA Sectional meet, which will take place Feb. 15-16 in Rosenburg, Texas, in hopes of securing a spot in the 2002 NCAA Championships.
