OXFORD, Miss. (Oct. 30, 2001) - On the strength of a season-high 1,422 air rifle score, TCU's rifle team earned fifth-place honors in a strong field at Ole Miss Invitational Saturday in Oxford, Miss. Senior Jennifer Heim (Altoona, Iowa/Grand Island) led the Horned Frogs, shooting a career-high 364.
The Frogs' Purple squad was rounded out by a balanced effort from seniors Stacy Phillips (Georgetown, Texas/Georgetown) and Leticia Marquez (Alamo, Texas/Donna) and junior Jessica Green (Lufkin, Texas/Homeschool) with scores of 353, 353 and 352, respectively.
"It was a good meet for us, but we can do better," said TCU head coach Roger Ivy. "We need to find more consistency in order to continue to move forward as a team."
Ole Miss took the team title at its home range with a 1,488 mark. Sarah Hibbard of Birmingham Southern claimed the individual crown by notching a 386.
The Frogs are still awaiting results from October meets at Texas A&M and Memphis and return to action this weekend with competitions at Birmingham Southern and UAB in Birmingham, Ala.
