Under Edgar’s leadership in 2024, Iyana Gray emerged as one of the top collegiate sprinters in the nation. Gray’s impressive 2024 season included earning Second Team All-American honors in both indoor and outdoor competitions, as well as a standout performance at the Big 12 Championships, where she was named High Point Performer of the Meet after earning three silver medals in the sprints. Kashie Crockett, another standouts sprinter, earned Honorable Mention All-American honors on the men’s side with a 23rd-place finish in the 200m at the NCAA Championship, clocking a time of 20.98.
In addition to individual success, Edgar has developed a strong relay program. The 4x100 relay squad of Teanna Harlin, Mikayla Hayes, Dreunna Washington, and Iyana Gray posted a season-best time of 43.39, which earned them Second Team All-American honors at the national meet. The men’s 4x100 relay team of Jais Smith, Kashie Crockett, Jayden Douglas, and David Seete also recorded a season-best time of 39.91 to take home sixth at the Big 12 Championship.
The 2022-23 season was highlighted by success for TCU’s Flyin’ Frogs. The 4x400 team of Ethan Brown, Donnie James, Simbarashe Maketa and David Seete garnered Second Team All-American honors at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships with a season-best and the fourth fastest outdoor time in program history (3:02.62).
The Frogs sent nine individual sprint entries and all four relay teams to the NCAA West Preliminary. Additionally, Iyana Gray (100m, 200m), Samarra Monrroy (400m) and Simbarashe Maketa (400m) garnered podium finishes at the 2023 Big 12 OTF Championships. The 4x400 squad that were named 2023 Second Team All-Americans were also Big 12 OTF Bronze Medalists in the 4x400 relay.
Iyana Gray was crowned TCU’s first Penn Relays 100m Champion and the 4x400 team of Brown, James, Seete and Ryan Jordan brought home TCU’s first 4x400 Penn Relays Championships since 2008.
Between both indoor and outdoor seasons, Edgar has guided TCU student-athletes to seven podium finishes and nine new additions on TCU’s All-Time Top 10 List, in addition to the 4x400 OTF Second Team All-Americans.
Edgar comes to TCU after 11 seasons as an assistant coach for the UT Arlington men’s and women’s track and field teams. He also served as the recruiting coordinator for both programs. A former world-class sprinter with Team NIKE, he helped lead the Mavericks to three men’s indoor SunBelt Conference titles (2014, 2017, 2019) and three outdoor crowns (2014, 2015, 2017).
While at UTA, Edgar coached some of the program’s all-time best sprinters. In 2020, Ismael Kone, the 2020 Men’s SBC Outstanding Freshman, was the only male to win multiple individual events at the SBC Indoor Championships as he swept the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes. He ran a personal-best 6.74 to win the 60m and followed it up with a 21.03 in the 200m, the No. 3 time in school history.
Edgar's professional experience made an immediate impact. Since 2014, three individual school sprint records and one relay record have been broken. Clayton Vaughn (men's indoor 60m, men’s outdoor 100m), Vanessa Ugorji (women's outdoor 400m), as well as the men's 4x100m relay team, were all school records that were broken in Edgar’s tenure.
A native of Great Britain, Edgar is no stranger to the international stage. He was a member of the country’s 4x100 relay team that reached the Semifinals at the 2008 Bejing Olympics. He was a 100m semifinalist at the 2009 World Championships while also garnering a bronze medal as a member of Great Britain’s 4x100 relay team.
He ran a life-time best of 10.06 as he garnered gold in the 100m at the 2008 European Cup.
Edgar was a two-time All-American at Texas A&M and was a three-time All-Big 12 Conference selection. He was the 100m runner-up at the 2006 Big 12 Championships and placed seventh at the NCAA Championships that same season.
Prior to Texas A&M, he was an eight-time NJCAA All-American at Kansas City Community College. He graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in agricultural leadership and development.
He and his wife, Jade, have a son, Kinston, and a daughter, Kennedy.
