Six individuals were also named ITA Scholar-Athletes
FORT WORTH – The TCU women's tennis team has been named an ITA All-Academic Team, and six representatives have been named ITA Scholar-Athletes, the organization announced.
"It has been an absolute pleasure to work with the TCU women's tennis team," said Assistant Athletics Director for Academic Services Dana Blount. " Their commitment to excellence extends beyond the court, and thier academic achievements are a true reflection of their discipline, resilience and team spirit. I am proud to celebrate their success and look forward to thier continued impact both in the classroom and in competition."
The team collectively pulled in a 3.51 GPA, allowing them to earn their sixth consecutive designation for the prestigious honor. The six individuals who were tabbed as ITA Scholar-Athletes were Raquel Caballero Chica, Maya Drozd, Cayetana Gay, Helena Narmont, Isabel Pascual and Yu-Chin Tsai.
"TCU is a challenging academic university," said head coach Lee Taylor Walker. "Our athletic academic center and staff do a phenomenal job resourcing our athletes to reach their potential. I'm grateful for Dana Blount and all the work she did this past year to assist our players in how to stay organized and on time with their schoolwork despite all the travel. I'm also proud of our players for having the self-discipline and work ethic to achieve a team GPA above 3.5. It's remarkable"
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year. Programs with a team grade point average of 3.2 or above are recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team.
