Freshman headed to Nationals; Three other Frogs advance to quarterfinals
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – TCU track and field Preston Kuznof's stellar rookie season continues as the javelin thrower punched his ticket to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, and three Frogs advanced to the quarterfinals in their respective events on Wednesday afternoon at E.B. Cushing Stadium.
The Big 12 javelin champion secured his spot to represent TCU on the largest stage in collegiate track. Kuznof launched his second throw of the afternoon 68.71m (225-5) to finish 10th overall. The freshman looks to join Joe Brown (2008) as the only Horned Frog men in program history to earn All-America status in the javelin throw.
On the track, Lloyd Frilot, Jayden Douglas and Kashie Crockett all secured their spots in the quarterfinals by finishing in the top 24. The trio has a chance to punch their tickets to Eugene by finishing as one of the top 12 athletes on Friday.
The 2025 Indoor and Outdoor Big 12 800m Champion Frilot paced his heat and came home third to earn an auto-qualifier placement. The senior cruised a 1:48.61 and sits 19th heading into the next round.
Douglas also grabbed an auto-bid, finishing third in his heat in the 400m hurdles. His time of 50.03 has him slotted seventh going into the quarterfinals.
Senior Crockett won his heat of the 200m in 20.65 (-0.1 wind). He sits in 10th overall and looks to secure a second straight trip to the national meet in the event after qualifying last season.
A successful season came to a close for four other Frogs on Day 1. After earning the final qualifier spot in the region, Coulaj Eans made the most of his opportunity, jumping 7.46m (24-5¾) to finish 18th at the NCAA West Regional. In a windy pole vault, Benjamin Kirbo cleared 5.02m but was unable to advance past 5.17m, and Reese Pokluda also wrapped up his TCU career.
Freshman Ronnie Kendrick's individual season comes to a close in the 400m, but the Las Vegas native will still run for the Frogs in the 4x400m relay on Friday that looks to advance back to the outdoor championship meet.
