
Horned Frogs Inch Closer to Big 12 Championship

No. 2 TCU shuts out Oklahoma State 4-0, one win away from ninth league title
FORT WORTH – TCU moved within a victory of its ninth Big 12 Championship on Thursday.
The No. 2 ranked Horned Frogs shut out No. 74 Oklahoma State 4-0 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU improved to 18-2 overall and 6-0 in Big 12 play ahead of a visit to Texas Tech on Sunday. The Horned Frogs will claim a share of the league title with a victory over the Red Raiders. A win in West Texas positions TCU to secure an outright regular season championship in its regular season home finale vs. No. 16 Baylor on April 13.
The Frogs dropped just one set all dual vs. the Cowboys (7-12, 1-4 Big 12). TCU swept all three courts in doubles in a simultaneous clinch. Jack Pinnington, Albert Pedrico and Duncan Chan punctuated the clean scoresheet with straight set victories in singles on courts one, four and six.
"It's always an honor playing the Cowboys," said head coach David Roditi. "They are a classy team with very good coaches and administrators. I hope they felt the same hospitality we feel whenever we visit Stillwater."
TCU won its sixth straight match and 15th in its last 16 tries at the expense of the Cowboys.
The Horned Frogs notched their 30th straight home victory dating back to March of 2023.
Roditi earned his 296th career head coaching victory. Now in his 15th season at the helm of his alma matter, Roditi sits 16 wins shy of reaching 400 dual victories as a Horned Frog when including his playing career from 1992-96.
Doubles Rundown
Doubles Results
A savvy lineup switch in the third position paved the way for a swift doubles point.
TCU paired Filip Apltauer with defending NCAA Doubles Champion Lui Maxted on the bottom court. Playing their first match together, Apltauer and Maxted assumed a double break at 4-1 over Matei Onofrei and Finn Hopfe. Maxted subsequently served out a 6-1 decision.
The Horned Frogs found themselves up a break at 5-4 on courts one and two following Apltauer and Maxted's win.
Chan and Pedrico were the first to finish, downing Ian Bracks and Thomas Gadecki, 6-4, on two. Pinnington and Cooper Woestendick, the ITA No. 64 ranked pair, secured the clean sweep via an identical score vs. the Cowboys' top tandem of Isaac Becroft and Alessio Bassile.
Pinnington and Woestendick improved to 9-4 as partners and 4-0 opposite ranked teams.
Chan and Pedrico have claimed four of their last five matches dating back to the Frogs' 6-1 defeat of No. 42 South Florida on March 3.
TCU boosted its season doubles record to 16-4. The Horned Frogs have claimed 19 of their last 23 possible doubles points dating back to May of 2024. TCU has not lost in doubles at home in 13 consecutive outings on the purple courts.
Singles Rundown
TCU played its sixth straight match without two-time All-American Pedro Vives, in its singles lineup.
It did not matter.
Chan hung a bagel on Gadecki in set one on court six to set the tone. He was the first player off the court, serving out a 6-4 decision in set two.
The sophomore was one of five Frogs to claim their opening sets.
Pinnington and Pedrico each built 5-2 leads in set two and finished within minutes of one another. The ITA No. 12 singles player, Pinnington delivered a vintage performance vs. the 107th-ranked Becroft in the top position. Pinnington secured two double breaks, the first putting the junior in front 4-0 in set one. The London native later raced ahead toa 4-1 lead in the second frame en route to a 6-2, 6-2 sweep.
Pedrico capped the shutout via a comfortable 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Bracks.
Maxted, ranked 22nd nationally, led Derek Pham 6-4, 5-2 and was on serve at the time of the clinch.
Freshman Roger Pascual got the nod on court five and had built a commanding 6-4, 4-1 advantage over Ben Stecker when play was paused.
Woestendick slotted in on the third flight and led Basille 3-2 in set two after surrendering the opening frame 4-6.
Pinnington booked his third all-time victory over the Cowboys and moved to 9-4 in 2025, with all of his wins coming on court one. Becroft represented the 41st ranked player he has defeated in his three-year college career.
Pedrico has tallied a team-leading 10 dual singles victories against just one loss.
For Chan, the sophomore moved to 18-7 overall in singles play this season.
