Three TCU pairs set to compete in SCE West Coast Championship
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. – Fresh off the program's first ever National Championship in May, the TCU beach volleyball program returns to the sand for the first event of the fall season when it takes on the Sand Court Experts West Coast Championship beginning on Friday and running through Sunday.
Three TCU pairs are set to compete at the weekend tournament in Southern California. The tournament is set to include pairs from Arizona State, Arizona, Cal Poly, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Texas and Washington.
Competing for TCU is Emilia Saxne and Hannah Taylor, Anna Long and Stacy Reeves and Elea Beutel and Melina Mol. Beutel and Reeves and the only ones of this group who will not be putting on the TCU jersey for the first time in their careers.
The tournament begins with Friday pool play, featuring 2-3 matches per pair. Saturday is modified pool play, with seeded matchups based on performance on Friday along with the First Round of Single Elimination Playoff. On Sunday, all pairs will continue the single elimination bracket.
Seeding for pool play is based on TruVolley rankings. In the event that two or more pairs are in the same pool from the same university, the lowest ranking pair(s) will be dropped one place to ensure that pool play only has one pair (or the lowest amount) from each school.
TCU is looking to continue the positive momentum from its incredible 2025 season, which saw the Horned Frogs win the program's first ever National Championship. In addition, the Frogs claimed the inaugural Big 12 Championship, marking the third consecutive conference crown for the program.
The 2025 season was a culmination of sustained success over multiple seasons. Dating back to 2020, TCU is the second-winningest program in collegiate beach volleyball with 174 total wins. This decade, the Horned Frogs are averaging almost 33 wins per season (excluding the COVID-shortened season in 2020).
