TCU set to host ITA fall tournament
FORT WORTH – For the second straight season, the TCU women's tennis team will play at home for the ITA Texas Regionals, running from Oct. 9-14 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
A total of seven Horned Frogs will be competing in action, with six competing in main draw doubles and singles and one individual playing in qualifying singles. Crisina Ramos Sierra, Raquel Caballero Chica, Yu-Chin Tsai, Victoria Gomez O'Hayon, Tomi Main, Letizia Corsini and Caroline Clark are the players representing TCU this week at home.
Doubles action will start at 8:40 a.m. on Thursday, as Main and Corsini are set to go up against Caroline McGinley and Elena Mireles of SMU. The pairings of Ramos Sierra and Caballero Chica and Tsai and Gomez O'Hayon both received first round byes and will start competition at 9:30 a.m.
Clark is set to compete in her first action as a Horned Frog, competing in qualifying singles action at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday against Aoka Nagasawa of UTSA. Moving along to Friday, Caballero Chica will play in main draw singles against Stadfany Nformi at 12:30 p.m. Main and Tsai will each take part in their respective matches later that day starting at 2 p.m.
Ramos Sierra, Corsini and Gomez O'Hayon are also taking their talents in the main draw, but their match times are yet to be determined.
With 13 regional tournaments being hosted on the men's and women's sides of play, the two singles finalists from each region (26 total per gender) as well as the doubles champion from each region (13 total per gender) will qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships through these Regional Championships.
