Three TCU pairs compete to kickoff fall slate
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. – Three TCU pairs, including four newcomers, competed over the weekend in the TCU beach volleyball fall opener at the Sand Coast Experts West Coast Championships in Manhattan Beach.
The Horned Frogs pairs for the weekend were Emilia Saxne and Hannah Taylor, Anna Long and Stacy Reeves and Elea Beutel and Melina Mol.
Friday's action featured pool play, with the pools being selected based on TruVolley rankings. Each of TCU's pairs posted 1-2 records during the first day of the tournament.
The second day began with modified pool play, with the groups chosen based on Friday's performance. Long and Reeves and Saxne and Taylor each posted victories on Saturday morning to advance to the Gold Championship bracket.
Beutel and Mol went 0-2 on Saturday morning and then posted a 1-2 record in the consolation pools beginning on Saturday afternoon and running into Sunday.
In the Gold Championship bracket, Saxne and Taylor dropped their first round to the Washington pair of Teila Allen and Emma Hohenauer and Long and Reeves fell to Stanford's Elena Fisher and Clara Stowell.
After dropping their matchups in the bracket, the two pairs went into more pool play on Sunday. Long and Reeves went 1-1, while Saxne and Taylor went 0-2.

TCU is set to host its lone fall tournament on Thursday and Friday at the TCU Beach Volleyball Courts.
