TCU's Senior Deputy Athletics Director provides the latest update on the Horned Frogs
Hi Everyone:
Hard to believe that the spring semester is already underway. It's great to have the campus full of energy as we look forward to all of our winter and spring sports. It's exciting to see the momentum of our fall sports already carrying over to what is shaping up to be a phenomenal spring!
As you saw with a New Year's Day announcement, we welcome our new leader Mike Buddie. Yet again, under the leadership of Chancellor Boschini and President Pullin, TCU found the right person at the right time to lead us. Though Mike is currently back in New York, pulling double duty as he begins work with us while also wrapping things up at Army West Point, he and our team are working hard to chart the future of TCU Athletics. We look forward to having him on campus full time later this month. Mike's track record as a fantastic leader is exciting and I look forward to serving him and our staff in guiding TCU in these unprecedented times in collegiate athletics.
It has been an honor and privilege to step in on an interim basis and lead our athletics department. Thank you to all that reached out during the interim and transitional period in providing their support, especially Chancellor Boschini and President Pullin. I am grateful for their trust in me. I also want to thank the TCU Athletics Executive Team and our entire athletics departmental staff for being so supportive and keeping the momentum going.
MOVING FORWARD
As Mike Buddie comes on board, TCU remains fully committed to competing at the highest level nationally and participating at the maximum level in revenue sharing with its student-athletes.
To accomplish this goal with the ever-changing landscape of collegiate athletics, we will be leaning on the continued support you have demonstrated so well through the years. More so than ever, revenue generation is key. Just like you saw with our increased courtside seating in Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena for men's and women's basketball games, we need to find new and creative revenue streams. It's simply the cost of doing business these days. In the coming months, we will communicate some of our strategies and plans in this area.
Along those lines, your investment in the Flying T Club remains critical as we transition into our new world of revenue sharing with the anticipated upcoming settlement of the House v. NCAA class-action lawsuit. As a reminder, gifts to the Flying T Club and Frog Club are tax-deductible and earn Horned Frogs Priority Points.

BOWL WIN AND THANK YOU

Thank you to everyone who made the trip to Albuquerque to support our football program in its 34-3 win over Louisiana in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl.
The purple crowd blew me away! I am beyond grateful for those who made the commitment to be in Albuquerque to support our student-athletes. The support was phenomenal, beginning that morning when a strong contingent of TCU fans appeared at our hotel to cheer our team as they boarded the buses for the game. We thought we would bring a solid crowd to Albuquerque and, to no surprise, the TCU fan base came through and then some! On behalf of Coach Sonny Dykes, our student-athletes, coaches and support staff – THANK YOU!
Your support was rewarded with a team that was focused, ready and excited to play! As Coach Dykes says, the team that is most excited to play will often be the one that wins. As you could see, whether in the stands or on TV, our players were ready! The way we started fast and the energy and enthusiasm we showed throughout the game was a great statement to the culture in our program. For all those who were in Albuquerque and dropping by the team hotel during the week to visit with players and coaches, it was so great to hear the positive feedback on how much you enjoyed being part of the bowl experience with us.

2025 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
With wins in our last four games and six of the final seven, we were proud to finish with a 9-win season! It's the third time since 2015 we have won at least nine games with two of those occasions coming in the last three seasons under Head Coach Sonny Dykes. With the strong finish, the return of key leaders, great players and the highest ranked recruiting class in the Big 12 Conference…hard not to be excited about the future of our football program, starting with the 2025 campaign!
Perhaps the most popular football question I now receive is when will our 2025 schedule be released, short answer is -- soon. While we know the opponents, the dates are being finalized in anticipation of a release later this month.
Per a previous announcement of the Big 12 scheduling matrix, our home conference games are Baylor, Cincinnati, Colorado and Iowa State. We will travel to Arizona State, BYU, Houston, Kansas State and West Virginia. In nonconference play, we open at North Carolina while hosting Abilene Christian and SMU.
We will play 11 Power Four Conference opponents next season. This will also be our final year with just six home games. The 2026 slate will include eight home games and we are committed to a minimum of seven in subsequent seasons.
BECH FAMILY

Our thoughts go out to football student-athlete Jack Bech and his family. In the process of saving a young woman's life, Jack's older brother Tiger Bech lost his life in the terrorist attack in New Orleans. As a native of the New Orleans area, I was heartbroken when I woke New Year's Day to the news of the awful event, then hearing from Jack with the news of Tiger struck even closer to home. I am proud that Head Football Coach Sonny Dykes, Offensive Coordinator Kendal Briles and other members of our program, including Josh Hoover and JP Richardson, traveled to Louisiana for Tiger's funeral and to provide support to Jack and the Bech family.
In case you missed it on social media or prior to Monday night's College Football Playoff National Championship, ESPN ran this great feature on the impact Tiger made on others during his time with us.
I think it's worth sharing how important TCU Football is to Jack. After his injury during the Cincinnati game, he worked as hard as possible to prepare to play in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl. When it became clear to him and our medical teams that he couldn't, Jack made his decision to begin his preparation for the NFL Draft. In doing so, he was unable to travel with the team to New Mexico, but Jack made his own arrangements and met the team in Albuquerque. If you were there or tuned in on ESPN, his presence was seen and felt. Jack made it a priority to be in Albuquerque for his team, that's what Horned Frogs do!
LET'S TALK HOOPS

Congratulations to Head Coach Mark Campbell and everyone in our women's basketball program on the best start to a season in our history at 19-1 overall and 7-0 in the Big 12. We're back up to No. 9 in the latest Associated Press poll, tying for our highest ranking all-time which was set earlier this season. We play at Oklahoma State tonight before hosting No. 25 Baylor on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Thanks to the great support of Barstool TCU and TCU Frog Army, we set a student attendance record with 562 at last week's 90-81 win over UCF. It has been special to see the crowds growing with each home game. Our student-athletes are noticing and commenting to media about it.
Led by Sunday's 74-71 win at Baylor, our men's team has also had its share of excitement with some dramatic victories. Brendan Wenzel's 3-pointer with 5.0 seconds remaining gave us our third straight victory in Waco. Thanks to Noah Reynolds again hitting a game-winning bucket, this time with 25.3 seconds left, we beat BYU 71-67. We scored the final six points for the win. Noah's layup with 12.8 seconds to play capped a 7-0 run to close the game and give us a 63-62 victory over Kansas State. We host No. 12 Kansas tonight at 6 p.m.

BASEBALL SEASON APPROACHING
With our baseball opener exactly one month away, Feb. 14 at San Diego, we have general admission season tickets now available. The home opener is Feb. 25 against Tarleton. We have 29 games on the slate at Lupton Stadium this spring.
SPORTS UPDATE
With nine sports currently in the national Top 25, and beach volleyball will make it 10 when its preseason poll is announced soon, this is a great time to be a Horned Frog! Below are our current rankings:
Men's Tennis – No. 2
Equestrian – No. 3
Rifle – No. 3
Triathlon – No. 4
Women's Basketball – No. 9
Women's Soccer – No. 16
Baseball – No. 18
Women's Golf – No. 23
Volleyball – No. 25
In addition to our men's basketball success, men's tennis was also victorious in Waco with its 4-1 win over Baylor on Monday night. It came on the heels of a 7-0 sweep of No. 17 Stanford. We host the ITA Kickoff Weekend beginning with Saturday's 2 p.m. match against Pacific.

Swimming and diving enjoyed a great Senior Day weekend as the women defeated Iowa State on Friday before both programs posted victories over Incarnate Word on Saturday. Rifle was also in the win column as it defeated Ohio State and UTEP. Track and field opened its indoor season in Lubbock last weekend. Freshman Indya Mayberry stole the show in her collegiate debut as her 7.11 in the 60 meters marked the fastest time in the world this year. She came back the next day with a 22.78 in the 200 meters for the nation's second-best time.
Our student-athletes continue to represent us well on the awards front. For the fourth time this season and 10th in her career, Anna Kwong was named the Big 12 Women's Diver of the Week as she won three events and broke her own school record in the 3 meter. Anna also became the first female diver in TCU history to surpass 400 points in a six-dive competition, accomplishing the feat in consecutive days. Sedona Prince set a TCU Women's Basketball record with her fifth career selection as Big 12 Player of the Week. She averaged 25 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in consecutive road wins at Kansas and Texas Tech. Madison Conner was recently the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week when she averaged a nation-leading 28.5 points, while connecting on 13-of-26 3-point attempts, in wins over Samford and UCF. On the men's side, Noah Reynolds was the Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week after his game-winning layup to beat Kansas State.
Melanie Parra became the first TCU Volleyball player to be a First-Team All-American and the only Horned Frog in the sport to receive multiple All-America honors. Football's Jack Bech was named an All-American with Zachary Chapman selected as a Freshman All-American.
Congratulations as well to Head Women's Soccer Coach Eric Bell. In addition to being the Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year for the third time, he was selected the College Soccer Coach of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches Black Soccer Coaches Community Group.
