No. 2 TCU Sweeps ACU, 7-0

FORT WORTH - The No. 2 TCU men's tennis team opened its 2025 campaign with a resounding 7-0 win over ACU on Saturday afternoon inside the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
Newcomers Albert Pedrico, Roger Pascual and Filip Apltauer all earned their first win in purple and white.
Pedrico and Pascaul both went 2-0 on the day and Apltauer was on his way to 2-0 before his doubles match went unfinished as TCU clinched the doubles point.
TCU is now 34-5 on indoor courts since 2018 and 47-13 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
"First match of the year! Finally, the season gets going for us. We have been waiting for a long time." said head coach David Roditi.
TCU clinched the doubles point going 2-0 on courts one and three and led 5-4 on court two before the point was clinched.
On court one, Duncan Chan and Pedrico took down Merse Deli and Daniel Morozov, 6-2. Kaj Quirijns and Pascual clinched the doubles point for the Frogs as they defeated Ethan Scribner and Alejandro Verdasco with a score of 6-3.
Pedrico was the first Frog to finish in singles action as the freshman took down Deli in straight sets by a score of 6-0, 6-2. It was the first dual win of his career.
On the top flight, Chan earned the win as he made quick work of Morozov, winning 6-1, 6-3.
Apltauer collected his first win as a Frog with a straight set victory over Dennis Dutine with scores of 6-1, 6-3.
On court four, Pascual took down Tomas Tischner in two sets, both by a score of 6-2.
Julian Alonso won the first set in dominant fashion over Martin Delnido with a score of 6-1 after trailing 3-0. He fell behind 4-1 in the second before a gritty comeback to seal the victory.
Quirijns took down Ethan Scribner in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-0.
Next up for the Frogs is No. 17 Stanford on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on the campus of SMU in Dallas.
