
TCU Opens Season with Blowout Win over Florida A&M

Allette scores 20 to lead the Frogs
FORT WORTH – Florida A&M scored the game's first bucket, then it was all TCU which made 14 3-pointers on the way to a 105-59 win over the Rattlers Monday night in Schollmaier Arena.
Six Horned Frogs (1-0) scored in double-figures, led by a 20-point outing off the bench by Vasean Allette. The Old Dominion transfer was 9-of-13 from the field, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range.
Three-point shooting was key for TCU. The Frogs made 14 from deep including an 11-of-16 effort in the first half. Leading the way from beyond-the-arc was redshirt freshman Jace Posey who was 3-of-4 and scored 11 points. Fellow redshirt freshman Isaiah Manning scored 10 points in his TCU debut.
TCU built a 59-22 lead at halftime after holding the Rattlers (0-1) to 28.6 percent from the field. The Frogs increased their lead by nine in the second half as the Rattlers made six 3-pointers.
Arizona State transfer Frankie Collins had seven of the Frogs' 29 assists, tied for the second-most by a TCU team since Jamie Dixon has been the head coach. TCU had just five turnovers. The starting guard duo of Collins and Noah Reynolds had 12 assists to just one turnover.
The Horned Frogs will return to action on Friday against Florida Gulf Coast. Tip is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

- TCU improved to 1-0 over Florida A&M
- Jamie Dixon improved to 489-233 as a head coach. He is 11 wins away from 500.
- TCU won its 11th-straight season opener and 23 of its last 25.
- TCU's 46-point win was its largest margin of victory since Dec. 28, 2022 in a 103-57 win over Central Arkansas.
- TCU's 105 points tied for the third-most scored under Dixon.
- TCU led 59-22 at halftime. The 37-point margin was the largest by TCU under Dixon.
- The Frogs' 29 assists tied for the second-most under Dixon and the most since 29 assists were recorded against Central Michigan on Nov. 30, 2018.
- TCU's five turnovers were the fewest it's had since March 17, 2023 when it had five against Arizona State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
- TCU was 14-of-30 from 3-point range including 11-of-16 in the first half. The 14 made 3-pointers were the Frogs most since Feb. 15, 2020 when the they made 15 against Kansas State. It was also tied for the fifth most by TCU under Dixon.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Vasean Allette led six Frogs in double figures with 20 points off the bench. It was his seventh-career game with 20 or more.
- Ernest Udeh Jr. recorded his second-career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. He was 5-of-9 from the field.
- Redshirt freshmen Isaiah Manning (10) and Jace Posey (11) each scored in double figures in their TCU debut.
- Posey was one of seven Frogs to make a 3-pointer. He led the Frogs with three makes on four attempts.
- Other double-digit scorers included Frankie Collins (14) and Brendan Wenzel (10).
- Scoring their first-career points were David Punch and Micah Robinson with seven each.
- All 14 players who were available to play saw action as Dixon emptied the bench with 45 seconds to play. During that time, freshman Adam Stewart scored his first-career points.
