The Frogs’ star safety recorded his 12th career interception and second pick-six on Monday
FORT WORTH – With TCU (1-0) leading 10-7 in the final four minutes of the first half on Monday night, senior safety Bud Clark – a Jim Thorpe Award watch lister – jumped a Gio Lopez third down pass and returned the interception 25 yards for a score that opened the floodgates leading to a 48-14 win over North Carolina on Monday night.
For his overall efforts, including five total tackles, Clark has been named the Big 12's Defensive Player of the Week.
A three-time captain, the Alexandria, La., native helped lead TCU's defense to a smothering effort against the Tar Heels as the Frogs gave up just 222 total yards and 50 yards on the ground. Removing the 83 yards over seven plays UNC gained on their scripted opening drive, TCU allowed just 139 yards on 42 plays (3.3 yards).
It is the first weekly honor from the conference office in Clark's career.
The Horned Frogs will enjoy their first bye week of the 2025 season this upcoming weekend (Sept. 6) and return to action on Saturday, Sept. 13 when they host Abilene Christian in their home opener. Kick off is set for 7 p.m. from Amon G. Carter Stadium.
