Senior forward earns TCU back-to-back conference weekly honors
FORT WORTH – TCU women soccer's Seven Castain has been tabbed the Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. The award is the second weekly conference accolade of Castain's career and also the second for a TCU Horned Frog this season.
In her lone action of the week at No. 9 Iowa, Castain led the Frogs to a gritty 3-2 road win thanks to a second-half brace. The Draper, Utah, native's first goal came in the 55th minute of action, where she scored on a set piece. Kamdyn Fuller's feed into the 18 was headed by Morgan Brown right to the waiting Castain for the tap in and a 2-1 lead.
Castain secured the brace in the 65th minute on a physical play in which she took on multiple Iowa defenders in the box and was able to find the back of the net. These two goals would be the deciding factor in TCU's victory over the Hawkeyes, marking head coach Eric Bell's 152nd win at TCU, which is the most victories by a head coach in program history.
The two-goal performance is the most goals Castain has scored in a game since her impressive four-goal display against Colorado on Oct. 5, 2024. With her two goals last week, Castain now sits in fifth in program history for goals with 26 and eighth for points with 64. So far this season, she leads the Frogs three goals, seven points and 11 shots.
Fourth-ranked TCU will take on Texas in Austin on Thursday night at 7 p.m. That in-state showdown will be televised on SEC Network+.
