Will tee it up alongside world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler
FORT WORTH – Sofia Barroso Sá, a soon-to-be senior on the TCU women's golf team, is set to compete at the Colonial Pro-Am on Wednesday.
She will tee it up alongside world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge champion Davis Riley and Rick Wurster, CEO of The Charles Schwab Corporation.
It's tradition for the reigning champion and Charles Schwab CEO to play together. Wurster invited Barroso Sá, fresh off an appearance at the NCAA National Championships, to join their group.
The opportunity to step between the ropes at a PGA Tour event is a well-deserved honor. From Belmonte, Portugal, Barroso Sá has twice reached the NCAA National Championships and earned the start in every tournament over her three-year run as a Horned Frog. She has produced the second-best career scoring average in program history (72.5) and ranks third and fourth, respectively, on TCU's all-time records list for par-or-better rounds (43) and birdies (302).
Barroso Sá helped TCU enjoy its best season in the Big 12 era in 2024-25. Behind Barroso Sá, the Horned Frogs won three tournaments – their most in a season under head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin – set a single-season record for scoring average (289) and ascended as high as 13th in the Scoreboard rankings. Barroso Sá TCU in top-10's (five), top-20's (nine), par-or-better rounds (19) and birdies (118) and tied for the team-high in counters (32)
She was at her best in the biggest events. Barroso Sá was the Frogs' top performer at the NCAA Lexington Regional and Big 12 Championship. She placed fourth outright at Regionals to qualify for the NCAA National Championships, shooting a six-under 210 at Keene Trace Golf Club. Barroso Sá tied for 10th at the Big 12 Championship en route to earning All-Tournament Team honors for the second time in her career.
