Horned Frogs claim first Big 12 victory of the season
FORT WORTH – The No.3 ranked TCU equestrian team defeated No.5 Oklahoma State 11-9 on Thursday afternoon at KSM Bear Creek Farms. This was the Frogs first Big 12 conference matchup of the season, advancing their record to 3-1.
FENCES
The meet got started with fences, where the Horned Frogs topped the Cowgirls 4-1. Jordan Scelsa started the event off strong, earning the first point for the Frogs with a 72.5 Ella Bostwick followed with an 85 on Java, securing her point. Lilly Goldstein also won her point marking an 83.5 on Van. Scully closed out the event on Fats scoring an 87.5, earning her fourth consecutive win of the season, and was named the MOP of the event.
REINING
In the western arena, the reining team got things started with Jessica McAllister securing her point for the Frogs with the score 70.75 on Smooch. Lannie-Jo Lisac followed, winning her point on Roxie with a 70.5. Shea Graham earned the final point for the Frogs in the event with a score of 68.75 on Boogie Man, closing the event 3-2, Frogs.
FLAT
The second half of the meet began in the flat arena. Ella Botwick picked up the first point for the Frogs with a score of 81 on Gipsy. Scully wrapped up the event by securing her point on Mac with a 77.5. The event ended with a 3-2 score, Cowgirls.
HORSEMANSHIP
The meet concluded with horsemanship, where the Frogs went 2-3. Jessica McAllister picked up her point on Flash with the score of 71.75. Elizabeth West claimed her third win of the season with her ride on George, scoring a 70.5.
UP NEXT
TCU returns to action next week for their final home meet of the fall season at KSM Bear Creek Farms in Burleson, Texas. They will face the Baylor Bears at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10.
