Trevor Johnson, who was competing in his first NCAA Singles Championship, fell to No. 10 Mazen Osama of Alabama in the morning set of matches. The No. 6 pair of Guillermo Nuñez and Alex Rybakov started out their doubles match strong with a 6-3 opening set win over No. 36 Duarte Vale and McClain Kessler of Florida. A late break by the Gators propelled them to a 6-3 win of their own in the second set forcing a decisive super tiebreaker for the match. After going back-and-forth for a 3-3 tie at the change over, Florida rattled off eight of the next nine points played to take the tiebreaker, 10-4, and the overall match victory.
